Topic: Using the work of German theologian and activist, Dorothee Soelle, Rev. McFadyen will explore what mysticism is, and how the religious impulse of mysticism is reflected in all world religions. She will discuss some “places” of mystical experience (nature, eroticism, suffering, community, and joy), and look at Soelle’s argument that mysticism is a tool of resistance for countering destructive aspects of ego, materialism, violence, and more.
Speaker: Rev. Helen McFadyen
