Campus Ministry … news from Rev Anne

Things are under way at the University, and the U of A Interfaith Chaplains are working on ways to be of service throughout the community.  I had the pleasure of serving on the interview team – which has recommended acceptance of the new Anglican Chaplain, Sarah Holmstrom, to the team. Sarah is a lovely, enthusiastic addition to our group.

One September highlight is always the day when we officially welcome international students – during their orientation to the University. We made and served them home-baked cookies and lemonade (you sponsored 200 of those cookies – thank you!) As we all know, a sweet treat is a great way to attract someone’s attention. You can find some fun photos of this event on our congregations’ Facebook pages.

The chaplains have initiated a monthly lunch, to catch up and to know one another better. We have so much work to do during Association meetings – it’s great to have unstructured time for building relationships.

So, things are well under way for the 2017-18 school year. I’ll be sure to keep you posted as they continue.

In faith and hope,

Reverend Anne Barker

UU U of A Chaplain
