Covid times are times of new discoveries and practices – in addition to many hard times.
Westwood’s bi-annual and first online fund raising auction was one of many such adaptations. The goal was to raise funds (of course) but also to have FUN. In this post we share some of the details.
The FUNdraiser auction was hosted on the Aucteria.com system – which for auctions of our size was free of charge. A total of 218 items were donated by 39 members and friends of the congregation. 83 bidders registered and likely others scrolled through the items – providing online presence for Westwood.
|Item Category||Number of Items Sold|
|Baking & Kitchen||23|
A total of $8,618 was raised, thanks to the many small items and a few “big ticket” ones. The FUN of the auction goes throughout the year as we exchange goods, enjoy the services of others and generally have at least door step visits upon delivery. Speaking of delivery, anyone having trouble picking up items can contact email@example.com for assistance.
Succesfull bidders will (or have already) received contact details for the donor – when they pay by cheque or by e-transfer. A final advantage of an e-auction is that the unsold items do not need to be returned, but can wait safely for our next auction in two years!!
But did we have FUN??
I think we all enjoyed the Happy Hour and thanks to Martin Kerr for a great concert – complete with an encore and a chance to ask a few questions of one of Edmonton’s most loved folk musicians.
Thanks to Happy Hour hosts Kevin Fitzgerald and Brenda Jackson and guest promotions from special donors.
Also thanks to Ilara Stefaniuk-Gaudet and Lisa Stein for Facebook promotion. Bill Lee, JP Lebourgeois and Terry Anderson for creation, adding items and technical support on the auction site and our fearless Auction Leader Lorian Kennedy.
And of course, a GREAT BIG $8,000 THANKS to all the bidders and our donors!!!
