We have recently installed a new plugin to the Westwood Web site that helps manage volunteer signups. The system allows organizers to create an event, add volunteer roles and the number of required volunteers and a brief description of the tasks required. Members and friends can then see which roles need volunteers and add or delete their names and email addresses. Once committed, the system sends the volunteer a confirmation and automatically sends one (or more) reminders as the date approaches.
The system will be most useful for recurring tasks (such as Sunday volunteers, Fourth Fridays, lawn cutting or snow removal) but will also be useful for large events like Solstice and casinos.
You can check the on the current volunteer opportunities the website by clicking on ‘Participate” and then “Volunteer Opportunities’ or by going directly to http://www.westwoodunitarian.ca/volunteer-signup/
Regular volunteers may wish to request a login account to the website. If you are logged in, your email and other detail is added automatically when you volunteer and the system shows your current and upcoming volunteer operations.
