“Original Sin” an original poem by Cassie Aziz-Few

“Original Sin” by Cassie Aziz-Few

Their society is built on a collective
Not on ideas of a biblical behemoth.
We must put that in our retrospective.

We thought they were morally defective;
Just “savages” dressed in loincloths.
Their society is built on a collective.

We wouldn’t change our erroneous perspective.
History has judged our “righteous” wrath.
We must put that in our retrospective.

Religious piety, both invective and corrective
Punished them mercilessly with ashes and sackcloth.
Their society is built on a collective.

Their Church was Nature Herself, quite effective,
Without our missionary Men of the Cloth.
We must put that in our retrospective.

Sins of our Fathers; we became introspective,
In forgiveness we go on together henceforth.
Their society is built on a collective;
We must put that in our retrospective.
