Speaker bio:
Emily Milne, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at MacEwan University. She is a community-engaged scholar whose work is guided by a commitment to co-creating knowledge and solutions with community partners. She is the Program Director of a SSHRC Partnership Grant funded research-to-action program advancing educational equity in Alberta. She leads a multidisciplinary team of post-secondary researchers, educators, members of government, and community stakeholders dedicated to improving outcomes for equity-denied students by translating research into actionable educational practices and informed policy decisions. Her research mobilizes knowledge across academic and non-academic settings through peer-reviewed publications, policy reports, and presentations for educators, policymakers, and community partners. Supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, her work has informed government and school division initiatives and been featured in national media coverage across Canada.
