A compassionate community of free religious thought, inviting all people to rest, grow, and serve the world.

Seeing What Is Possible: Hope, Children, and the Difference We Can Make

Every child carries unique gifts, strengths, and possibilities. In this talk, Dr. Emily Milne shares why her work with children, schools, and communities gives her hope, and how a strengths-based approach can help us see possibility even in the face of significant challenges. Drawing from her work advancing educational equity, she will discuss how recognizing and building on strengths, addressing barriers early, and taking even small actions can create ripples that shape what becomes possible in a child’s life. At its heart, the talk is an invitation to consider what each of us can do to help children thrive and shine brighter every day.

Speaker bio:

Emily Milne, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at MacEwan University.
