The incoming and out-going Board of Trustees enjoyed a Kickstart to the year in June by gathering at Jacqueline’s for food, talk and business. The first regular board meeting of the new church year has also happened. Some things to note:

֎ Ingathering & Water Communion – The first ‘regular’ service of the fall will be on September 7. Don’t forget to bring some water (actual, or symbolic) from a meaningful experience this summer and a story to share if you wish.
֎ The Food Not Bombs community pantry has been installed at Westwood. Guidelines will soon be available for how it functions.
֎ Save the Date – Sunday, October 26 – new(ish) member orientation following the service
Ongoing
֎ Margo Long, a Marketing Consultant, has been working hard this summer on building an understanding of Westwood and Westwoodians in order to be better able to widen our appeal. The board will be meeting with her again in September.
֎ Members of the Westwood board have been interacting with key people at Unitarian Congregation Edmonton in order to help build connections between our 2 congregations.
֎ The Summer Solstice Block Party was enjoyable and successful enough to commit to trying to do it again next year. Many thanks to all who volunteered their time and talents to make it happen!

֎ Thank you to Trudy Grienauer for maintaining the Organizational Guide and the email alias list. She is handing these functions over after many diligent years and we appreciate her maintaining this information for so long!
Housekeeping
֎ Aligning with our UU principles, Westwood will strive to use compostable cups, utensils etc., on the occasions when single-use food service items are needed.
֎ Posters/Signs
When putting up posters in the Sanctuary, please use sticky tack only to prevent damage to the walls and doors.
For the front doors, there are magnets located on the interior side of the metal doors. Please do not use tape, as even masking tape removes the paint.
The stand-up sign is available for welcoming people to the building – you are encouraged to use it! You can make your own poster, or ask Elaine to make one up for you to print and laminate.
֎ Elaine’s Office Hours will change starting October 1. Same days, just shifted to the afternoons. The new office hours will be Tuesdays and Fridays from noon to 3 pm.
