The Westwood Board of Trustees met via Zoom on December 17 via Zoom. Here are the highlights:
- During the leadership hour, Sara McEwan attended as a special guest and talked about the fascinating work that she and Allison Akgungor have been doing, looking into the history of the land on which Westwood currently resides. The fruits of this research will be presented during two services in the new year. The first one, the last Sunday in January, will present the timeline of the occupancy of this land and the second, the last Sunday in February, will start a discussion around reconciliation activity possibilities that could result from knowing the history of this land and peoples.
- The Board accepted the report of the Financial Review Committee and thanked Larry Charach, Dennis Foth and Alfred Falk for undertaking this important task. Of particular note in the report: our Office Administrator, Elaine Jeong, “continues to demonstrate strong diligence and accuracy in financial processes.” The Board strongly endorsed this commendation.
- Work with Margo Long and Jolene Bobinski continues as Westwood explores building connections with local groups.
- Planning for a new building sign and lighting continues.
- Water Warriors YEG was approved as the Winter Solstice special collection recipient. For more information about the work they do, please check out: waterwarriorsyeg.com
- The Food Pantry in Westwood’s front yard continues to be accessed. If you are able to make a donation, please do so. Due to the season, non-perishable dry goods are probably the best bet.
