The Summer Solstice Celebration at Westwood will be held on Saturday, June 21, from 2:00-5:00 pm. We are inviting the whole neighbourhood. Everyone is invited to participate in activities on the south side of the community garden. There will be food, refreshments, games, crafts, sidewalk chalk, face-painting…

GRATITUDE
֎ AGM
Thank you to all who stayed after the service, enjoyed a delicious Taco Bar lunch, and then attended the Annual General Meeting of the Westwood Unitarian Society on May 25. A bylaw change was passed by those present, making it possible for someone to potentially serve on the board for three two-year terms (that’s up to 6 years!). Hopefully, members will take up some of the board roles before that happens. You can read the draft AGM minutes HERE.
֎ Piano Dedication
Sunday, June 8th, the Sanctuary piano was dedicated to Marj Foth, who passed in 2022. Westwood was so fortunate to have Marj as part of this congregation and we are forever grateful for all she did to help build the foundations of a strong music program here.

GIVING
֎ Money collected at Games Nights since its inception, have been donated to Voice of Albertans with Disabilities. The next charity recipient will be Kids Kottage Edmonton (WEBSITE). The next Games Night will be Friday, June 27 at 7:00 pm.

IN THE WORKS
֎ A lighting & signing solution for the Westwood building is beginning to resolve. Unfortunately, due to zoning, we cannot have an electronic sign. However, the signage and exterior lighting for the building still needs to be upgraded and the board hopes to have some fuller proposals soon – stay tuned!

MARKETING
֎ The board has agreed to engage Margo Long, a marketing consultant, to look into ways of promoting Westwood.

UPCOMING BOARD MEETINGS
June 13/14 – The Board Kickstart is set for June 13-14. Board members who are incoming, staying on and outgoing will meet for handover, socializing and planning.
