Congratulations to our creative people (Dawn, Pamela, Margret). The Westwood Art Playshop project has been awarded a grant from the Westwood Endowment Fund. It will occur on every first and third Thursday at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the basement except over the summer months. Thursday, January 18 was the launch. Donations to help cover the cost of materials will be gratefully accepted. Come and explore your creative side in good company! This program is open to the wider community, so help us spread the word!

The Board enthusiastically supported Katie’s suggestion of a Friendly Games Night for those who enjoy playing board games. Board games from Westwood will be used, as well as games that participants may bring along from home. This is another opportunity to welcome people of all ages into our building to meet wonderful Westwoodians and see what we’re all about. It will occur on every fourth Friday except in July and August beginning Friday, February 23 at 7:00. Light snacks will be available and donations will be accepted to support Voice of Albertans with Disabilities. Please check the Westwood website for details.

The number of views of YouTube videos (Westwood Unitarian Edmonton) from Westwood continues to increase with one reaching over 100.

The Board reviewed our promotions efforts and will make adjustments –  discontinuing Coffee News and doing more on Eventbrite, using flyers for the neighbourhood and posters in the sign out in the front will continue.

The board is beginning to consider next year’s budget and needs information from members on their funding needs or ideas for fundraising for next year. Contact treasurer@westwoodunitarian.ca.

Members, friends and guests of Westwood graciously donated generous cash and gift cards for the Neighbour’s Centre and Winter Solstice also brought in significant donations for the Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society. We are truly grateful for this generosity of our Westwood community and the greater community.

Mark your calendars – The next round of Building Connections Dinners will be on Saturdays, February 3 and April 13 at 6 pm; and more Beyond Land Acknowledgement Speakers are planned for Fridays, March 15 and May 10; at 6 pm with bannock dinners.

Fortunately with this super cold weather the January 13 meeting was a planned zoom session and the February 12th meeting will also be on zoom.
